Asla Foundation

(Director Jessica Neff)

Asla Foundation was created in 2001 by Jessica Neff and a fellow Peace Corps volunteer, after serving together in Nicaragua.  Sponsors in the U.S. are linked with Secondary School and College students in rural Nicaragua.  Sponsorships are based on economic need, personal essays and grades.  Support is provided for matriculation, transportation, books, uniforms and food, and 10 hours of Community Service are required each semester.  As of 2017, a total of 200 Secondary School and 100 College students have been sponsored, and 37 students have graduated from College.  Sponsors renew their sponsorship commitments yearly, and are encouraged to communicate with their sponsored students twice a year.
